Uh-oh!

by cishanjia @ 2008-03-20 - 19:31:30

There seems to be a lack of communication between the Post Office "provisioning" team and sales over setting up my home phone and broadband service. And between them and BT. If I didn't need to save money, I wouldn't be trying this. Still how hard can this be...:

1. Now.

Phone calls: Route through Company A.
Line rental: Is with BT.
Broadband: Is with Company B.

2. To change to.

Phone calls: The Post Office.
Line rental: The Post Office.
Broadband: The Post Office?

Of course, BT could make things awkward, since they're losing the line rental. Not that a large, responsible, established company like BT would do that. Would they...?!

Of course not!

Did I not ask if this was really worth it?

You did. To which I replied I needed to do so, in order to save money. But this is moot, since we have the right to expect good service and well-trained staff who know what they're doing. If we otherwise put up with bad service and untrained staff who don't know what they're doing, then we don't have the right to expect good service, well-trained staff who know what they're doing, or to complain if and when things go wrong! :)

I'm phoning BT again on Tuesday after the bank holidays to see if I can get someone who actually speaks English to explain what an "open order" is, what this open order is, and what would happen if it were allowed to complete. If they can't answer satisfactorily then I'm going to instruct them to remove the open order and phone the Post Office and instruct them to sort out with BT what needs to be done. Since both phone calls are at their cost, I don't really care how many I have to make to get them to explain things! :)
